    EXAMPLES OF INDUCTION CEREMONIES AND ACTIVITIES


  • Cum Laude Chapters and individual members are cordially
    invited to submit original articles and other evidences of
    academic achievement for publication on this web page.

  • Likewise, chapters are encouraged to submit information about
    chapter activities, programs and speeches from Cum Laude induction
    ceremonies, or other chapter news.

    Cherry Hill High School East (NJ)

    Chapter participated in a 'Toys for Tots' drive, provided free
    tutoring for the school and volunteered for a Human Relations
    International Spring Fair.

     

    Christ Church Episcopal School (SC)

    Have an invited speaker for ceremonies and in March a
    reception is held for new members and their families immediately
    following the ceremony. Previous speakers were (December) Mr. J.
    T. Pace, Literary Advocate for the Greenville Literary Association
    and (March) Dr. James D. Daniels, President of Coker College.

     

    Columbus Academy (OH)

    Dr. Michelle Meyers, President of Denison University was
    Induction Ceremony speaker.

     

    Culver Academies (IN)

    Annual Spring Banquet was held on Sunday, April 30. Mr. Eldon
    Ploetz, a businessman from Culver, was the guest speaker. Cum
    Laude students elected during the current school year received
    their pins. These students will receive their certificates at the
    Commencement Convocation in June. Two graduates (47' and 56") were
    elected as honorary members of the Chapter. Both will speak at the
    Commencement Convocation.

     

    Montgomery Academy (AL)

    Chapter recognizes the student with the highest grade point
    average for the year in each seventh, eighth and ninth grade
    classes with a book award.

     

    Montgomery Bell Academy (TN)

    New members were inducted in May at a special assembly
    attended by the whole school and parents of the inductees,
    followed by a reception. A dinner was held that evening for new
    and current members, at which one of our honorary members
    spoke.

     

    Moses Brown (RI)

    A special dinner was held for all chapter members, including
    parents.

     

    Norfolk Academy (VA)

    CLS members meet once a month for a special luncheon. CLS
    members tutored other students in academic subjects. CLS members
    hosted the reception after the Academic Awards night for the Upper
    School.

     

    Providence Country Day School (RI)

    CLS and Alumni Association invited others to hear Senator John
    H. Chafee discuss "Public Service and What It Means". Reception
    followed.

     

    St. Paul Academy and Summit School (MN)

    Brunch for Cum Laude members following the Awards
    Assembly.

     

    Vermont Academy (VT)

    Dinner/Induction Ceremony with a program featuring former CLS
    members and former Headmaster.

     

    Virginia Episcopal School (VA)

    Annual Cum Laude luncheon for all members in honor of the most
    recent inductees was held at the Headmaster's House with families,
    alumni members and friends invited. At the Induction ceremony held
    in the school chapel, a speaker spoke to an assembly of the entire
    school.

     

    Westridge School (CA)

    Elizabeth Forsythe Hailey (author, A Woman of Independent
    Means) was the speaker for our Induction Assembly.
